  • Moscow, Russia, 09/05/2005..Russia celebrates the 60th anniversary of the end Second World War, generally referred to in Russia as the Great Patriotic War, with a military parade through central Moscow and Red Square. Many soldiers were dressed in wartime uniform and carried Soviet-era banners, and veterans rode through the square on wartime trucks.

Approximately 70,000 members of the pro Kremlin youth organisation Nashi [Ours],  demonstrated to wish World War Two veterans a happy New Year.   • Moscow, Russia, 04/11/2005..Russian nationalsts give fascist salutes at a demonstration in central Moscow calling for an end to the "occupation" of Russia by illegal immigrants. The demonstration, organised by a variety of extremist nationalist groups led by the Eurasion Youth Union and the Movement Against Illegal Immigration, was held on the first People's Unity Day holiday, which has replaced the old holiday celebrating the Bolshevik Revolution.

  • Moscow, Russia, 27/05/2007..Richard Fairbrass, of British pop group Right Said Fred, is attacked and beaten by Russian nationalists before being arrested by police at  Moscow's second attempted Gay Pride parade. The parade had already been banned by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov on the grounds that it would provoke violence, but gay activists attempted to demonstrate in defiance of the ban, and many were beaten by counter demonstrators and arrested by police.
