Istra, Russia, 06/03/2011..A woman eats blini, or pancakes, as people celebrate Maslenitsa, also known as Butter Week or Pancake Week. Maslenitsa marks the beginning of the Russian Orthodox period of Lent, but is a traditional Russian Holiday marking the end of winter, and has its origins in pagan times.
