Dimitri Kholodkov was a MK war correspondent killed in a 1994 explosion in the newsroom when he opened a booby-trapped briefcase which he believed contained evidence of corruption in the Russian Army. The plaque reads:.On October 17th 1994 there was an explosion in the editorial office and Dima Kholodov, military reporter of MK, was killed. He was not killed at the war. He perished for telling the truth. May his memory live forever."
